IMMEDIATE CARE: MEETING NEEDS, ONE BACKPACK AT A TIME

Practical support for the immediate needs that can make the transition home a little easier.

WHERE IT STARTED

What began with a backpack has grown into something bigger.

We started by giving newly freed friends backpacks filled with essential items to make the transition home a little easier.

Today, the backpack remains at the heart of our Immediate Care initiative, but our reach has expanded to include the families and communities connected to the people we serve.

Because reentry doesn't happen in isolation.

Sometimes, supporting someone's transition home means meeting a need for their child, household, or family.

From hygiene and personal care items to food, school supplies, household necessities, and other essentials, Immediate Care meets people where they are and helps them take the next step forward.

The backpack is where we started. The need is where we go.

FROM IMMEDIATE NEED TO CONTINUED SUPPORT

Sometimes the first need opens the door to the next connection.

Immediate Care is one part of  The Uncuffed Project's broader continuum of support.

When additional needs are identified, individuals and families may be connected to other programs, services, and community resources that can help support longer-term stability.
